Secondo un sondaggio tra un vasto pubblico di ascoltatori britannici ideato da una marca di prodotti per la pulizia dei canali uditivi, i R.E.M. sono gli autori della canzone con il testo più frainteso. Si tratterebbe infatti di "The sidewinder sleeps tonite" il cui ritornello ''Call me when you try to wake her" è stato spesso frainteso con "Call me Jamaica", anche grazie alla dizione non perfetta di Michael Stipe.
Sul podio di questa particolare classifica si è piazzato, al secondo posto, Jimi Hendrix con "Purple haze" e il passaggio ''Excuse me while I kiss the sky'' frainteso con la frase ''Excuse me while I kiss this guy''. Al terzo posto troviamo "Dude looks like a lady" degli Aerosmith, il cui titolo è stato storpiato dagli ascoltatori con la frase "Do just like a lady".
